Coming home from work, roundabout by Bannatines heatlh center & Beaport park golf club.

The annoying thing is that I want to get out there and start fixing it as the weather looks great, but am trying to get some money out of the other person's insurers (i'm only insured 3rd party) so had better leave it alone until someone else has seen it .
Looks to be mostly cosmetic damage (bent panels, and bumper mount is just wrenched sideways), busted indicator is just annoying although I did pick up the orange filter off the road. Had planned on replacing the headlights anyway as part of a bigger project I had in mind for the golf this year.
Ah well...

Update... Found out today that the "kind old gent" has since changed his story, telling his insurers that I pulled into his lane. Boy did I laugh when I heard that, well for a while anyway.
A lesson learnt then, ALWAYS get witnesses! Haven't given up yet though, will keep you all updated...

In theory if the insurers get an accessor involved he/she should be able to tell from the damage who's fault it was...especially as it was on a roundabout. I.e. as you were both effectively turning right then there will be direction of impact marks on the old guys car. :ugeek: His panels will be pushed towards the front of his car if he pulled in front of you or if you switched lanes and drove into him the dent will almost look as though you have t-boned him. This only works as you were travelling and turning in the same direction. :geek: I had a simmilar situation when a woman drove into my sisters stationary morris 1000. The woman claimed my sister had opened the door into her path (which would have caused the door to be opened fully and ripped off), but in fact my sister ad only opened the door a few inches stopping to let the other car drive past and the door was driven into the a-post on a line which showed the woman was going to hit the car regardless of whether the door was open or not! I wonder what she was doing at the time...clearly not looking where she was going.... ..Oh and the crazy mare  decided after crashing into my sister it would be a good idea to get out of her car and scream at my sister.. :problem: ..who was in shock, distress.....oh and trapped in the drivers seat....until she'd pulled herself together to climb over and get out of the passenger side! She was very lucky to escape virtually uninjured...Phew!

I know this happen to a lot of people recently. I don't know why people bother to lie, yes its costs them a bit more, but in two of the cases there was a threat of fraud made, why would people bother? I think sometimes though its just a case of persuading your insurance company to put the effort in to not accept a knock for knock claim.

Thanks paulski. On Friday I wrote a detailed letter to both insurance companies (mine and other party) explaining the layout of the road, the fact that "pulling into his lane" as the other guy puts it just isn't possible. To top it off I sent with it a photo of damage to the other guys car, clearly showing a "head-on" rather than side-swipe impact.
Fingers crossed :)
