Every club has certain rules, here are ours...

1.   The Club shall be known as the Sussex Volkswagen Owner’s Club or abbreviated to S.V.W.O.C.

2.   The Membership card is not transferable, and must only be used by the authorised signatory.

3.   The Annual General meeting will be held in November of each year.

4.   Every effort will be made to provide one monthly club magazine / newsletter for each registered member who has paid all dues in full for any one year. Additional magazines / newsletters may be available at extra cost.

5.   Each member must agree to abide by the rules of the club and re-affirm on each renewal by signature.

6.   The S.V.W.O.C. Committee may consist of the following: Life president, Chairperson, General secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary,  Newsletter editorial team, Events and Social Coordinators, Festival Co-ordinator, Web master, Press and publicity officer and up to 4 other committee members with no designated titles. All main committee members should be good standing active club members for at least a year before applying for a position.

7.   The Treasurer shall be responsible for the bank account in the name of the S.V.W.O.C. and shall present to the club a balance sheet at each A.G.M. and make all and any books available for inspection upon request. There shall be three signatories on each cheque book; these will be the Treasurer, Secretary or Chairman and one other committee member two of which will suffice, the third being available in case of one of the two are unable to sign.

8.   In the event of the dissolution of the club for whatever reason, the assets shall be equally divided amongst the current fully paid membership of the day, after all debts have been settled and equipment disposed of.

9.   In the event of the dissolution of the club, a quorum for an Extraordinary General meeting shall be called to terminate all club business.

10.    Membership fees and renewal fees are to be determined by the outgoing Committee prior to the Annual General meeting. Fees will be due at the beginning of April of each year. New members joining mid-year will pay a proportion of the annual fees. There will be three categories of membership available; these are:
Family - One or two adults and their named child/children under the age of 17 years from a single UK postal address*. Two membership cards will be issued. £16 (£18.00) per year.
Couple -Two adults no child/children or one adult with one child from one UK postal address*. Two membership cards will be issued. £14 (£16.00), per year.
Single - One person over the age of 17 years, no child/children, from one UK postal address*. One membership card will be issued. £12 ,(£14.00) per year.
*magazines newsletters can be mailed to BFPO addresses' at no extra charge but an additional annual charge will be made for mailings to other countries. Please ask the Membership Secretary for a quote.

11. The Committee shall be authorised to terminate Membership of any person who brings the S.V.W.O.C. into disrepute by any means whatsoever.

12.  Events—the club will organize various events during the year, only members of the club may attend these unless the event publicity specifically states otherwise, e.g. The Summer Festival. Children, (Under the age of 17 may only attend events accompanied by an adult. Any member failing to follow the proper instructions of club committee members at such events will be required to leave immediately and without further notice.

13.   The Committee shall be authorised to contract the necessary insurance cover to safeguard all club properties and activities.

14.   All expenditures shall be authorised by committee before going ahead.

15.   The official address of the club shall be the address of the secretary of the day.

16.  Should the Chairman’s authority should be called into question. 12 fully paid up members of the club are needed to call a members meeting at their discretion. For the purpose of securing a decision, two thirds of the members who choose to express a view shall constitute a quorum.

17.    Any additional rules thought necessary should be agreed by AGM or Special GM and must be approved by a two-thirds majority of attendance before they are included.

18.   The club known as the Sussex Volkswagen Owner’s club or S.V.W.O.C. shall not have any political affiliations of any kind.
