Brief club history:
The club was formed in 1986 by a small group of Volkswagen enthusiasts on the South East coast of England. They all met regularly to chat about their cars and other advice and help. As more people started to join them they decided to start producing a monthly newsletter and aranging monthly meetings.
Today the club is still based on the principle of enthusiasts getting together; owners of a more varied selection of Volkswagens are members. We have air cooled as well as water cooled models, older as well as brand new models, vans as well as cars. There is always someone with an ongoing never ending project and someone is always available to offer help and advice.
Club nights:
For convenience we have 2 meeting points in Sussex. Some members choose only to go to their local meeting evenings, others go to both.
Of course you don't have to attend meeting nights at all, but it's nice to meet up and chat especially if there's something happenning.
Meetings are on the second Wednesday in the month at Langney Sports Club, Priory Lane off Priory Road, Langney, Nr Eastbourne
Also on the last Wednesday in the month at The Royal Coach Pub, Brighton Road, Shoreham, BN43 5LD.
Please note that very occasionally we don't meet at the places shown above. Check our event diary for details.
What we get up to:
We hold our own annual VW show each August, and organise many smaller events including competitions, barbecues, games & food evenings, treasure hunts, maintenance demonstrations, walks & cycle rides, cruises and camps. The past 2 years we've arranged camping trips abroad with great success. There's usaully a Christmas party too.
We go to many of the VW shows around the country, often travelling in a convoy of vehicles. Good fun if you've never tried it !
The Club has just over 200 members (August 2007), made up of single people, couples and families. New members are always welcome
